  • Evaluation of the suitability of processing methods for preparation processes

    Description:
    Most aging buildings are demolished to make room for new construction. Current demolition practices for reinforced concrete structures often result in low-grade recycling or waste. To enhance sustainability, aged reinforced concrete elements should be reused holistically. Therefore, automated production processes (also called fine processing) are required that ensures industrial scalability and enables a customized reconditioning after the extraction of elements from the donor building. This data set is part of the paper "Development of a Methodology for Deriving Fine Processing Steps with the Focus on Preparation of Aged Reinforced Concrete" and includes the survey results for the evaluation of the suitability of processing methods for preparation processes in the context of the fine processing. Furthermore the American Association for Public Opinion Research guideline categories and questions along with the respective answers pertaining to the conducted survey can be found. The overarching paper develops a systematic methodology that allows for the derivation of the respective preparation processes based on the element-specific damage. For this purpose, typical damage conditions of aged reinforced concrete elements are identified and systematically linked to the corresponding preparation processes. Subsequently, available concrete processing methods for the preparation processes are extracted from the literature. The core result is a three-stage methodology: (1) selection of ten available damage conditions of aged reinforced concrete elements, (2) derivation of preparation processes for the identified damage conditions, and (3) matching of required concrete processing methods to the preparation processes. This systematic approach provides the foundation for automated fine processing with focus on the preparation and the development of an overarching, adaptive production system for circular construction.

  • Dataset: Surface Morphology Analysis of Porous Nickel Processed by Ultrashort Laser Pulses in Different Atmospheres

    Description:
    In this study, nickel felts (Bekipor 2Ni30–0.50, Bekaert) were structured using an ultrashort pulse laser (Carbide CB-3, 40 W; Light Conversion) with a pulse duration of 193 fs, wavelength of 1030 nm, and repetition rate of 100 kHz. The laser was focused using a telecentric F-theta lens with a focal length of 70 mm. The experiments were conducted under three distinct atmospheres: air, argon, and water. The effects of scan speed and fluence were systematically investigated within each atmosphere using confocal laser scanning microscopy (LSM) (Keyence VK-X200 series), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) (Zeiss Sigma 300 VP), and Raman spectroscopy (Renishaw inVia). and The dataset contains light microscopy (LM) images and SEM images of the structured nickel felts, Raman spectra of the surface, and a plot illustrating the change in surface area as a function of medium, scan speed and laser fluence.

  • Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) Data Collection Template for the Reuse of Concrete Building Elements

    Description:
    This data collection template serves the purpose of collecting primary life cycle inventory (LCI) data for the life cycle assessment (LCA) of reuse concrete building elements from reuse practitioners and researchers conducting experimental work. The template aids in documenting building element specific energy and resource consumptions caused during the reuse process. The template was developed in the context of CRC 1683 by sub-project C02, responsible for the LCA of the building element reuse process. , About the CRC 1683: The German construction sector is responsible for a substantial resource and energy consumption, as well as high waste generation. CRC 1683 explores the possibility of a circular modular reuse of cast-in-place concrete load-bearing structures, to mitigate these environmental impacts. Divided into three project groups, the CRC researches all process steps necessary for the reuse, from the disassembly of source load-bearing structures, the characterisation of the reuse building elements properties and conditions, their refurbishment, and their connection and installation into new target structures. The template presented in this dataset was created to gather the necessary Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) data from sub-projects conducting experimental works for the LCA of the reuse process on the building element level.

  • Raman spectra of possible impurities in hydrogen relevant to ISO 14687:2025

    Description:
    The dataset contains a comprehensive list of normalized Raman spectra relevant to ISO 14687:2025. Additionally, the Raman spectrum of hydrogen contaminated by nitrogen at a pressure of 35 MPa is presented. , The 31 different substances were chosen due to their relevance to ISO 14687:2025. Acquisitions took place at different locations in Germany with a prototype Raman setup, which utilizes a 450 nm laser diode operating with a constant power of 3.5 W. As different sensors were used over the collection phase and the system was recalibrated after changes, the spectra differ in bandwidth as well as in resolution. In addition to the spectra of possible constituents in hydrogen, an exemplary spectrum of hydrogen with approximately 18.6 mmol/mol of nitrogen at a pressure of 35 MPa is shown., For safety reasons and to protect the components of the spectrometer, some gases were diluted either with argon or nitrogen. To increase the signal intensity of diluted samples, the duration of the measurement and/or pressure was varied.   • DICOM to BIDS NIfTI conversion

    Description:
    The provided Bash scripts are used to convert raw magnetic resonance imaging (Magnetic Resonance Imaging, MRI) data from the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) standard format into a Brain Imaging Data Structure (BIDS)-compliant dataset. The scripts convert DICOM files into the Neuroimaging Informatics Technology Initiative (NIfTI) format, which can be used for preprocessing MRI data. In addition to the NIfTI files, the conversion also generates the metadata required by the BIDS standard. Dataset quality and compliance can be checked using a BIDS validator (e.g.,  https://bids-standard.github.io/bids-validator/). The two scripts are adapted for different experimental sessions: script_dcm2nii_S1.sh is used for data from the first session (S1), while script_dcm2nii_S2.sh is used for the second session (S2). The scripts differ in that S2 additionally processes diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) data. Both scripts were developed as part of my own work with my individual MRI data. If you want to use them on your own data, you may need to adjust the scripts to match your raw data’s naming conventions. For more information, see the ReadMe file.

  • Translation of log files into event tables (Version 1.0)

    Description:
    This R script was developed to “translate” movement log files from a navigation task (path integration) experiment into so-called 'event tables'. These event tables summarize the recorded movements and can be used for further analyses, for example, to synchronize movement logs with brain activity. The script processes all CSV log files in a specified folder, classifies movement types, groups consecutive events, calculates onset, duration, and angles, and generates both individual and combined master event tables. Sample data are provided to test the script, though path adjustments are required. For more information, see the ReadMe file.

  • Path Integration Pattern Generator

    Description:
    Generates configurable path integration (PI) patterns for Virtual Reality (VR) navigation experiments with RStudio. Creates 4-point configurations (Spawn→Start→Distractor→Goal→back to Start) optimized for maximum path length while respecting geometric constraints. The script was developed out of the need for rapid randomized generation of path integration patterns that can be easily adapted to the respective experimental conditions. In addition to the actual RStudio script, the package also contains an accompanying ReadMe file, sample input data, and the corresponding output files.

  • Traversed Path Visualization (Version 1.0)

    Description:
    Visualizes participant navigation trajectories from Virtual Reality (VR) path integration (PI) experiments, showing target locations, traversed paths, orientation arrows, and drop error distances in RStudio. The script was developed to check whether participants performed the task correctly or whether other problems occurred during a trial (e.g., path integration marker was not deactivated correctly). Such trials were successfully excluded from further data analysis using the visualization script. In addition to the actual RStudio script, the package also includes an accompanying ReadMe file, sample input data, and the corresponding output visualizations.
