- Experimental study of the gas flow fields in a model packed bed reactor consisting of a modular packed bed representing polyhedral particles. Each module is rotated by 40° to generate a complex inner pore structure. Measurements via Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) deliver the 2D velocity fields and are carried out in the inner of the packed bed (from the 11th to the 17th layer and at the bed surface (on top of the 18 stacked layers). Particle Reynolds numbers range from Re_P = 100 to 1000 (vertical main flow).
